Children’s Day
On Children’s Day, we spent joyful moments together with the children from the Romani School of Ruseni and the Szeretet School of Petőfi Sándor Gymnasium. We gave away a pair of shoes to each child in Ruseni, whom in return showed us what they have learnt under Éva Deák’s guidance since our last visit.
We took the children from the Szeretet School of Petőfi Sándor Gymnasium to the Bujdosó Restaurant on June 1st. The delicious lunch was followed by a lecture held by decorator Ani Babos, who taught the kids how to master a dining etiquette. She explained how a beautifully set table should look like, where each piece of cutlery should be. After lunch, we took part in the Children’s Day festival at Molnár Jozsiás Park, organized by the Vigadó House of Culture. Such a dynamic day left the children tired but nonetheless full of glee, all of them went home with smiles on their faces.
Our Children’s Day activity did not end just yet. On June 12th, we visited the Sacramento Horse Club together with the children from the Saint Catherine Home of Imper. Our team arrived before midday, and started off with face painting, so every child could impersonate their favorite cartoon figure while taking part in the activities held at the Horse Club. We admired the show and cheered for the students who were part of the Club. The kids were most impressed by carousel riding, where teams of four horsemen showed us various performances.
Many of the pupils signed up for competitions, some succeeded in eating donuts, some in pushing carts. As for recreation, we went dog walking with the Székely Dog Club. The two Labradors, Kyra and Goldy did everything the little ones told them to, they walked next to them, sat or laid down, in exchange for treats. After the competitions were over, everyone could go horse-riding. We closed the day by riding carriages.
Our team of volunteers accompanied the children this time too, and proved to be of great value, due not only to their great effort, but the huge territory on which the kids were easily scattered also.
This was our second time spending Children’s Day with horses. We all had a great time, kids and adults alike. We will be back next year for sure.
